You'll be paid a $50 stipend for your first accepted Howcast video. Once you get the hang of Howcast videos by producing more, you may graduate to levels where you are paid $75, $100, or between $150-$300 for accepted videos. You may be paid via PayPal or check. Once a video goes live, you'll be asked to complete your W9 or W8, make sure all your release forms are delivered, and upload your master files to our FTP. We submit payments every Friday. As long as we have all your materials by Wednesday, you should be paid that Friday. If your materials are in later than Wednesday, your payment will be submitted the following week.

No, though HD is preferred, it's not necessary to join the Emerging Filmmakers Program, but it is required to produce videos at Levels 3 and 4 of the program.

You'll need a 3-chip Mini DV camera or an HD, video-editing software that can process .MOV files and multiple layers of video. (For example: Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Pro Express, Avid, Premiere, or Vegas. Pinnacle and iMovie will not process the Howcast graphics.) Download our production resources (script, voice-over, graphics, and guidelines) and then, shoot, edit, and upload for our producers to review.
