How To Count Cards in Spades

How To Count Cards in Spades

How To Count Cards in Spades

Posted: 24 Apr 2010 07:34 PM PDT

Spades is a game similar to Bridge, although with slightly different rules. Spades requires four players sitting at a table, with teammates facing each other. After dealing, and before the start of a round, each player will make a bid, which is basically the number of tricks he thinks he can claim. Unlike Bridge, in which a pair basically wins or loses depending on whether they can make good on their bid, Spades has a point system that favors meeting each member's bids, and severely punishes underbids or overbids.

In Bridge, the trump suit is usually determined during bidding (or a non-trump round can be played). In Spades, however, the spade is always the trump suit. Having a trump suit means that a card of that particular suit-in this case, Spades-will always win, even if it is a lower numeric value. For instance, a Two of Spades will beat out three cards dealt in another suit, for example Hearts, even if those constitute an Ace, King or Queen.

How To Count a Single Hand Blackjack Deck

Posted: 24 Apr 2010 07:32 PM PDT

If you watched the 1980's Oscar-winning movie Rain Man, you would observe how the autistic savant character played by Dustin Hoffman counted cards at the casino, leading his and Tom Cruise's character to win thousands of dollars in a span of a few hours. However, they were easily caught, and were forced off the casino (at least still with their winnings).

Counting cards in a casino is often frowned upon, and can be considered by the casino as cheating. Therefore, it might not be a good strategy for winning a game. However, counting cards will help you calculate risk, which you can use to your advantage when placing a bet.

Counting cards in blackjack will involve adding points whenever low cards are dealt and subtracting points when faces are dealt. This will help you make a fair estimate of the remaining cards in the deck, which can be to your advantage.

Determine your own fee based on the prices of your competitors.
Go to your local department store or check online to see the fees designated by your competitors with their products and/or services. Take note of the differences in prices in terms of quantity if you will be offering products in different size ranges also. This is a good reference point for you to determine the fees that you can apply to your own products.

How To Determine if a Child is Ready to Wean

Posted: 24 Apr 2010 07:26 PM PDT

Determining if a child is ready to wean may be difficult, especially for first time parents. Here are some sure signs that indicate your child's readiness to wean.

Take note of World Health Organization's recommendations.
The WHO recommends that child weaning by introducing solid food into the diet be done when the infant is at least 6 months of age.

Check your child's weight.
You will notice your child getting heavier by the day at the first few months. After about 5 to 6 months, the child's weight will hit a plateau. This is one indication that he needs additional nourishment through solid foods.

Observe the time intervals between each request for milk.
Infants are typically fed with milk once every four hours. If your child requests milk more frequently than before, then he may just be ready to be weaned.

When your dog starts fidgeting and scratching his or her ear excessively, that is most likely a sign that there is something irritating the dog in that area. If there is a degree of swelling on the pinna or ear flap then your dog most likely has an ear hematoma. There are blood vessels found between the skin and cartilages on the ear flap. When it is damaged the blood will flow inside pockets in the cartilage and result in a swollen ear flap. Mostly dogs with large ear flaps contract this condition as they can easily be damaged especially if they are very active.

How To Determine a Dog's Age in Human Years

Posted: 24 Apr 2010 07:19 PM PDT

The belief that one dog year is equivalent to seven human years is a misconception. There is in fact no single and accurate conversion factor for determining a dog's age in human years. This is because various breeds have different life expectancies. Generally small dogs live longer, possibly up to fifteen years and large dogs have shorter life spans, around seven years. It is still possible to make broad comparisons in development. This won't give you a definite 'human year' equivalent of a dog's age but it will help you make a fairly good estimate of how old the dog is in human terms.
